Cartoons appeal to everyone. They can become part of an era’s imagery: ubiquitous fixtures to different ages. They can portray feelings, frustrations, fantasies, audiences hold and recognise in themselves. They hold the ability to influence and create impact on their audiences. But can animation’s ostensible purpose for children deflect investigation into Issues Of Representation? Does the attitude “it’s only a cartoon” avert the viable offense it can cause?
